We’re quickly learning that when you undertake a massive project like an older home, it is necessary to interject some fun and easy projects between the larger ones so as not to lose your sanity and/or marriage. After reeling from news last week that we will most likely have to rewire our entire house over the next few years, I decided I needed a few quick project fixes to avoid feeling like I was sinking into the floorboards. It’s not possible for wood floors to liquify is it? I’m starting to believe that anything could happen in these old houses.
Anyhow, my first little weekend quickie project was to tackle a little problem Neil and I have with breakfast cereal. By problem I mean that we LOVE cereal. Clive loves cereal too, so we’re always stocked with about five different kinds of cereal. Very Seinfeld-esque huh? The problem is that it makes our little makeshift cereal home very cluttered, so I decided to replace the battered, multi-size boxes with two classy glass containers.
We snagged these gallon glass containers on sale from our local Hobby Lobby for $10 each, and they are perfect for what I eventually see our kitchen looking like. For now, they keep our cereal fresher and better looking.
Coupled with some artwork from our adorable pint-sized artist in residence next door, our “cereal nook” (read: ex microwave cabinet) is looking better for the time being.
