Since transitioning back into a regular office job, I have totally rekindled my love of podcasts. In a quiet office environment, they really help keep the work day moving, and I feel energized by the constant stream of information — especially when it’s about CrossFit, weightlifting, nutrition, and food. You might say I have a wee bit of an addiction.

While I’ve definitely enjoyed podcasts from my computer, I’ve become somewhat smitten with the Beyond Pod app on both my phone (Motorola Razr HD) and tablet (Samsung Tab 2). What started as just a few favorite favorites has grown to a few dozen. My favorites?

Barbell Shrugged/Barbell Business/Barbell Buddha: These are actually three separate podcasts, but I’ve put them together for the sake of clarity (and awesomeness). These guys are a powerhouse of information. Whether it be about lifting (Shrugged), running an affiliate (Business) or just general topics (Buddha), there is literally no topic they don’t seem willing to tackle.

Balanced Bites: Great podcast to learn more about modern Paleo living. Hosted by Diane Sanfilippo (author of Practical Paleo) & Liz Wolfe (of Cave Girl Eats), they cover topics like food, health & beauty and nutrition. I love that they answer so many questions from listeners! Take a listen here.

The Paleo Solution with Robb Wolf: Robb is a former biochemist and author of the New York Times Best Selling Book The Paleo Solution. He coaches some of the top athletes in the world and offers seminars in nutrition and strength & conditioning. Sound impressive? Then you should definitely check out his podcast. Be prepared to take notes.

StarTalk Radio Show by Neil deGrasse Tyson: No one makes science and technology more interesting than Neil deGrasse Tyson. I am constantly amazed by what I’ve learned from this podcast, and he covers topics that I would never in my wildest imagination think of.

The Bulletproof Executive Radio Show: Hosted by Dave Asprey, I consider what he does something between life coaching and straight up life hacking. I completely love his tips and motivation for how to approach life and constantly make it work better. Of all the podcasts I listen to, his is definitely the one I think can help everyone.

The Joe Rogan Experience: Hosted by Joe Rogan, he covers a wide range of topics and interviews guests from all walks of life. Seriously, I don’t think anyone does interviews more comfortably and personably than Joe Rogan.

While these are definitely my favorites, I’ve recently discovered a few more that are quickly rising on the list: The Rich Roll Podcast, YogaJournal.com, Weightlifting Talk, CrossFit Radio, and The Young Turks (I started listening to them in 2005, and recently rediscovered them!)

Do you have favorite listening material at work? Share!

I love the Wodcast Podcast. Kenny, one of the old hosts (he left a few months ago) works out at my gym when he is in town visiting his daughter. They’ve had a lot of amazing guests on. I’ve only listened to Barbell Shrugged once (the olympic lifting coaches at my gym were on it), but I really enjoyed it. This reminded me to add it to my subscriptions.

Aside from that, I’m a big public radio nerd. I subscribe to This American Life, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, and Wits.
