Wedding Idea #1,000,000,001…

I’ve been thinking about Neil’s groom’s cake. He said he doesn’t ‘need’ one, but since seeing Steel Magnolias when I was a little girl, I think it’s fun and adds its own element to the wedding, some fun and personality. However the idea of constructing anything other than a bunt or easy sheet cake is a little daunting and overwhelming in the face of everything else I’m attempting to “learn” this spring, therefore, I’m thinking cupcakes. Fun ones. Maybe not as expressive and detailed as the ones above, but something with a little flare and frosting would be fun to have sitting next to the cake. Thoughts? I chose this picture because it reminded me of a certain person’s groom’s cake, or at least the yarn balls looked familiar. ;)

Cupcakes are a great idea! J.D. wasn’t going to have a groom’s cake either, but I mentioned the magic words: any flavor you want. Then, I painted the little cats and told my cousin to go to town. The yarn was a complete surprise and I thought it was awesome. Cupcakes would take a lot less effort and still look totally fab! What kind of detail are you thinking?

That would look really cool! I bet not too hard to make…or you could buy little hotrods or whatever they’re called. Something ladies would think are quaint and cute and the guys would think they were very cool and masculine. I like your ideas!

That’s a really cool idea Jes. Plus you always pick the most yummy photos for your blog!

What are some of Neil’s favorite sweets/cupcakes?

Don’t diss the bit-o-honey, those are tasty! :-) How about you Jes, it sounds like your sweet tooth may be more pronounced than Neil’s?

Neil had an interesting agrarian upbringing. Raised by parents very attached to the ’60′s, he grew up with soy dogs, goat milk, No dark sodas and NO chocolate. He didn’t have chocolate till he was a teenager. This has caused him to not be crazy about candy, especially large proportions of chocolate. He also doesn’t like chocolate cake. So, I gave him a Martha link and he’s deciding which flavor is his fav, I will post the link tomorrow. As for candy he DOES like…Bit o’ Honey. What a weirdo :)

hmmm, can I just answer “all of the above”? There are few sweets that I don’t like, and I go through phases. Lately I’ve been hooked on soda-pop bottle gummies, and I love twizzlers.
