Taken Summer, 2007

So, over the past two weeks I’ve become very addicted to Miss B’s Blog, The Blah Blah Blahg. I have over 94 blogs saved to my Del.ci.ous, and lately I’ve been skipping over quite a few for one simple reason. Lack of relatable content. It takes effort to make conversation and develop relatable content and actual thoughts, and I’m realizing that many of the blogs I’ve bookmarked just post Etsy finds and Fashion they’ve pulled from other blogs. Not that there’s nothing to enjoy about that, but when you want to escape the drudge of the week, most people seek to connect with people that they can’t in their near vicinity. She is a beautiful soul and had a fun activity I thought I’d share for Friday as we all hurry to get to the evening hours. In a time when everything seems so rushed and frightened, its important to reflect on what’s important and what (or specifically whom) we love.

Her question: What is your perfect day and who would you like to spend it with?

Go to her post and leave your answer. It’s a bit of a contest (with a prize) but I think the prize is the warm feeling of answering :)

My Answer: The most beautiful times I’ve always had with my fiance have been on car trips and short trips. Whether it be somewhere fairly local, or many hours away. It sounds cheesy, but when we travel, there is always this air of fantasy and its so surreal because it’s almost as if we’ve left the world. I love it and I love him very much.

New pedal install

by Neil on February 26, 2009

in Automotive, Neil, Racing

With my car budget mostly consisting of paying for track time, it leaves little to do actual upgrades or modifications.  However I spied this new pedal on MY350Z.COM and decided it was worth the $40.00 at Z1Auto.com.

This pedal will help immensly with a technique called “heel toe”.

Watch the video demonstration of the “heel toe” technique

You can see why this pedal makes this much easier.  Being that I have a relatively small foot (size 8-9US) it is often tough to get my heel over to the gas pedal on heel toe.  When you are coming into a corner at 100mph+ you really need to feel confident that you will not mess up your heel toe and downshift for the corner.

Install was a breeze and only took 5 minutes. I will update with my impressions on the track after my first track day on April 25th!

5 Months to Go!

by Jessica on February 25, 2009

in Uncategorized

The Knot (Knot.com) was kind enough to remind me that there are 5 months left until our wedding today. You know as I’ve read Coldfusion code all day and was starting to wind down, looking forward to camera shopping and the gym, Knot has to go and just remind me how much work we have left lol. I’m excited though, and to be a complete subversive and antithesis to every thing I’ve ever stood for…

5 months left till I’m Mrs. James Neil Kohler. WEWT!

Ash Wednesday

February 25, 2009

Lent begins today, marked by Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday gets its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of repentance. The ashes used are gathered after the Palm Crosses from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are burned. Ashes were used in ancient times, according to the [...]

Wedding Idea #1,000,000,001…

February 24, 2009

I’ve been thinking about Neil’s groom’s cake. He said he doesn’t ‘need’ one, but since seeing Steel Magnolias when I was a little girl, I think it’s fun and adds its own element to the wedding, some fun and personality. However the idea of constructing anything other than a bunt or easy sheet cake is [...]
